A serious multiple structure fire in a nearby community generated a lot of interest on social media in and around our community. I was lucky enough to receive a phone call from someone who photographed the fire and posted photos online offer me access to whatever ones I wanted to use. I grabbed two and posted them on social media sites connected to the Similkameen News Leader. Within hours the photos had been viewed and shared countless times. When it came to finishing the front page for this issue I didn't really have anything I thought could suffice and decided on using the one photo that had the most traffic online. While I typically don't do that, I thought that not all our readers follow social media and used that as my argument for using the photo.
