Front Page - February 04, 2014
A series of unrelated events led to a week where all major news networks in British Columbia were using photos shot by my wife, Brenda. Mondays are 'paper days' which require a 100-kilometre trip to the next biggest city to pick up our printed press run from a printer. Both Brenda and I typically take the trip together but I decided not to last week opting to stay in the office. A rock slide closed the main highway we use to travel and Brenda was caught on the other side of it with a carload of that week's News Leader. She also had her camera and having happened upon the scene of the closure about an hour after it happened she managed to get in close before the area was sealed off. She then started e-mailing me photos. I started loading them on our Facebook page and before I knew it, Brenda's photos (properly credited) were showing up online and in newscasts. She even got interviewed and a clip from a video she shot also aired on a network feed. What I didn't know was that she didn't send me all the photos so I used one that didn't get national coverage for the front page while many of the others appear elsewhere in this week's issue.
