Front Page - April 01, 2014

This week's front page looked totally different than this earlier in the week. A serious fire that damaged three residential properties completely bumped the original photo and headline story to deep inside this issue. When I heard about the fire I asked my wife to run up with the camera to get some shots of the aftermath. She ended up getting some great photos and I used three of them with this one - the most dramatic of the set - making it on to the front paper. I did receive offers of photos taken during the fire and turned them down opting to acknowledge the incident, but focusing on the different fundraising activities that were being planned instead. Even the headline story is aimed at efforts to help the victims of the fire rather than the fire itself.
