I received a phone tip mid-week alerting me to a 'giant peace sign' that was going to be formed by students during Pink Shirt Day (February 27). I thought it could make a good front page photo, but when I got to the high school gym where this was going to take place I was disappointed in the size of the taped out sign on the gymnasium floor. I was expecting something a bit bigger. By the time students showed up and formed the symbol it made a lot more sense as there were far fewer students than I expected. Regardless, the shot worked out and ended up where I wanted to put it - on the front page.
